Hello, my name is Kelly Curtis
photographer and filmmaker
I hold in my hand a photograph of my great-grandmother as a young woman in Leadville, CO, only a handful of years before she died in the Spanish flu pandemic shortly after giving birth of my grandfather. This photo is a family treasure.
Photographs are meant to be marveled over as the family grows. They are meant to be on our walls, in our sock drawers, scattered across the coffee table. Our lives are art and should be treated as such.

Timeless Style
Capturing the genuine spirit of the Sierra Nevada mountains and Gold Country has become my life's work. My approach to photography brings together the area's rustic charm with its sweeping elegance to present the couple at the center. Through photography and videography, I weave together the threads of emotions, landscapes and people to tell unique stories. My shooting and editing style encapsulates one goal: for my client's images to be beautiful forever, a timeless treasure for generations.
A Decade of Experience
I’ve honed my craft into an art form through years of dedicated experience as a professional photographer in the heart of Amador county. Years of weddings and celebrating these special occasions have fine tuned my ability to capture both visual beauty as well as the authentic emotions shared in these once in a lifetime moments. This journey has provided me with an intimate understanding of the region's nuances, light and ambiance which allows me to fuse these elements in my work effortlessly.
Through making portraits and documenting moments...
I have found myself playing a crucial role in the milestones of my clients lives. Suddenly I was helping people celebrate their bond with their loved ones. I found joy in making art for my clients, when creating a large family portrait, capturing a ring exchange at a wedding, or recording a quiet moment between a mother and new baby.
Our lives are art and should be treated as such. I see photographs as heirlooms, something to be handed down through generations. At the end of the day, when I wrap a client’s collection and prepare them for reveal, I take a moment to just enjoy their photos. That is, I finish the job with the same enthusiasm and sense of awe as when I started with the first phone call, meeting or consultation.
A FAMILY AFFAIR
In 2019 my mom, Elizabeth Curtis, retired as a clinical laboratory scientist and joined me as a wedding photographer. It was one of the best decisions we ever made - to work together. It's a blessing to experience wedding adventures with her. She's a wonderful photographer and the perfect partner.
