FAQ

What is your shooting style?

It varies

We use various techniques including candid and editorial shooting. Sometimes we delicately guide, other times we watch and capture.

Why do you love weddings?

People forming bonds

All weddings are different. Some have all the formalities and traditions and others are very private, short and sweet. The bonds people solidify with their partners, family and friends are the best thing for me. I still get a tear at every wedding.

Kelly creates photo and video?

Absolutely

Photo + Video collections allow for comprehensive still coverage of your day along with a highlights video that tells a cohesive, cinematic story with carefully selected shots and music to showcase the key moments of your day.

What happens if Kelly gets sick?

In the event of a catastrophe...

We call a photographer who shares my skill level. They photograph your wedding, and if I am well enough to edit, we continue from there. There is a chance your file would be handed over entirely to another photographer to finalize your gallery.

What about natural disasters?

Lets Be Real

In the event of a natural disaster, (we do live in California) we will adapt and formulate a new plan to ensure everyone's safety and well-being.

What is your editing style?

Classic

We want your photos to last a lifetime, much longer than a trend. We use exposure, color, contrast, white balance and saturation to make sure the colors, skin tones and surroundings are beautiful. We touch up wardrobe flaws, blemishes and distractions.

How many photographers?

one to three

Our packages include options with one main photographer and up to two photographers/assistants. Whether there is one or three cameras, we ensure comprehensive coverage of your wedding.

Can we provide a shot list?

Yes

We encourage you to share a shot list in advance. In fact, we require a family formal shot list. We are also happy to capture a few essential poses or ideas you have. We keep our own shot list and it's mostly memorized. We'd rather watch and capture.

When will our gallery arrive?

6 weeks

We tell everyone six weeks, but it's usually faster.

Digitals and a print release?

Yes

Your photos are downloadable from the gallery as high resolution files and you have our permission to print and share as you like. You will have 30 days from the time we share your gallery to download and backup your images.

Do you offer albums and prints?

Beautifully done

We offer high-quality albums and prints as optional add-ons to preserve and showcase your cherished memories. Our prints are of archival quality on amazing paper with true colors that are as beautiful as your day.

Are you familiar with our venue?

It's likely

There are many wedding venues in the Amador area where we have worked multiple times and we are familiar with their layout and lighting. If we haven't worked there before, we'll arrive early on the wedding day to scout the best locations.

Engagement sessions?

Love them

Engagement sessions are a great way for us to get to know each other and for you to become comfortable in front of the camera. Engagement sessions start at $500 for the session and include digital files and access to our beautiful gallery store.

What is the initial investment?

Starts at $2,000

Wedding collections start at $2,000 and go up to $7,600 with lots of variation in between. We strive to create individualized collections that suit our clients' needs so pricing varies couple to couple.

What is the booking process?

easy

Once you've decided to work with us, we'll provide a contract outlining all the details. A 50% deposit secures your date, and the remaining balance is due the day before the wedding.

Behind the Scenes...

While the spotlight shines on the bride and groom during a wedding, there's a world of activity happening behind the scenes, especially for wedding photographers. We play a crucial role in capturing the cherished moments that will be treasured for a lifetime. Here's a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes at weddings from a wedding photographer's point of view:

  1. Pre-wedding preparations: We begin our day early, ensuring that our equipment is in perfect working condition. We check our cameras, lenses, memory cards and batteries to make sure they're ready for the day ahead.
  2. Scouting locations: We arrive early to scout the wedding venue ahead of time to find the best spots for photos and video. We look for the perfect lighting, backgrounds and angles to capture stunning shots.
  3. Capturing candid moments: One of the most important aspects of our job is capturing genuine, unscripted moments. We keep a watchful eye on the couple, guests and surroundings to document authentic emotions and reactions.
  4. Managing time: We work closely with wedding planners and couples to create a detailed schedule for the day. We must stick to this timeline to ensure we capture all the essential moments, from the ceremony to the reception.
  5. Dealing with various lighting conditions: Weddings can take place in a variety of settings, from outdoor gardens to dimly lit ballrooms. We are skilled in adapting to different lighting conditions, using flash and natural light effectively.
  6. Group and family portraits: Organizing and photographing group shots can be a logistical challenge. We must gather family members and bridal parties efficiently to create beautiful and memorable group portraits.
  7. Staying discreet: While we are an integral part of the day, we aim to blend into the background as much as possible. This allows us to capture authentic moments without making guests feel self-conscious.
  8. Handling unexpected situations: Weddings are filled with unpredictable moments, from weather changes to wardrobe malfunctions. We must remain adaptable and calm in the face of these challenges.
  9. Post-production work: After the wedding, the real work begins. We spend hours sorting through thousands of photos and hours of video, selecting the best shots, and editing them to perfection.
  10. Delivering memories: The final step involves presenting the newlyweds with a beautiful collection of images that tell the story of their special day. We take pride in creating lasting memories for couples to cherish.

In essence, we work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that every moment of a couple's big day is captured with artistry and care. We play a vital role in preserving the memories of this joyous occasion for generations to come.

Testimonials

Kelly took photos at our engagement party at a farm and brewery in Dixon. We had limited time with her, but boy does she know how to keep us on track and direct us, even during a hectic event! She has lots of creative ideas, like during a big group shot, she told people to kiss a nearby loved one. The resulting photo was fun to look through and count all the kisses of our friends and family!
